Chief Secretory Office Muzafferabad
Yesterday a ceremony was held at Chief Secretory Office Muzafferabad where the World Bank Funded Disaster and Climate Resilience Improvement Project (DCRIP) handed over the required equipment, DRM and logistic Plans, Furniture, IT and Electrical equipment to State Disaster Management Authority and Deputy Commissioners of all 10 Districts of AJ&K for the establishment of Emergency Operation Centers and Strengthening of SDMA and DDMAs.
The Chief Secretory AJ&K Dr. Ijaz munir was the chief guest of the ceremony while Additional Chief secretory Development Dr. Syed Asif Hussain Shah, Secretory SDMA Mr. Zaheer Quarishi were also present during the ceremony. Commissioners of all three divisions along with the Deputy Commissioners of all Districts, Project Director and Experts of DCRIP attended the ceremony.
Secretory SDMA briefly apprised the participants about the support extended by DCRIP project to strengthen the SDMA/DDMAs and its expected results.
Chief secretory AJ&K acknowledged the efforts of the DCRIP project to strengthen the Govt. machinery to respond to the disasters. He also stressed that the equipment at district and state level should be readily available for poor communities instead of elite capture, he further stated that the response to the disasters at state and district level would be improved after this support from DCRIP.
After delivering his speech, the chief guest distributed the sets of DRM and logistic plans, equipment and furniture among the deputy commissioners, he also paid visit to the consignments being dispatched to the districts.
